Production engineers, without hiring a platform team

Managed platform operations means experienced engineers run, secure, upgrade and extend your production platform through your own sign-on, pull requests and pipelines. BuiltForProd, Nexstella's production engineering brand, offers it in three options that fit different needs.

01 Outcomes

What changes for you

  • Developers go back to the product

Upgrades, patching and access requests stop landing on whoever knows the cloud best, so product engineers get their weeks back for the features and fixes customers see.

  • Changes stay visible and reviewable

The engineers work through the access you grant and pull requests your team can read, so every change has an author, a reason and a review behind it, months later too.

  • The platform improves as it runs

Work is measured against the eight properties of the BuiltForProd Standard, so improvements are scheduled alongside the upkeep instead of waiting for a quiet month.

BuiltForProd Managed options

Three ways to have production run for you

BuiltForProd Managed comes in three options. Compare them to see which matches how much help you need and how steady that need is. Service levels are agreed in your own contract, because the right level depends on what you run.

  • On-Demand

Engineers you call in when you need them, with no commitment between requests. It suits a stable platform that needs an upgrade, a fix or a second pair of eyes on a change now and then.

  • Support SLA

A pre-paid block of engineering with service levels written into your agreement, for production that customers rely on, evidence that has to be collected on time and a budget that stays steady.

  • Team Augmentation

Engineers who join your team part-time or full-time and own the platform with you, applying the BuiltForProd Standard and leaving documentation the next hire can inherit.

02 How it starts

How it starts

  1. A 30-minute call about your platform

Tell an engineer what you run, who looks after it today and what keeps going wrong at the worst moments. You leave knowing which option fits, or an honest reason why none of them does yet.

  2. Access you grant and can remove

The engineers work through roles in your own identity provider, never through shared accounts. You decide what they can reach and for how long, and you can take that access away at any time without asking anyone.

  3. A foundation the engineers know

Managed usually follows a BuiltForProd Baseline. If your platform was built another way, the call covers what the engineers would need to learn about it first.

  4. Steady work in the open

Changes arrive as pull requests through your pipelines, with notes your team can read. Nothing happens in a console that your engineers cannot see later, and your team can take any piece of the work back whenever it wants.
