Capability

Build security and governance into the systems you rely on

We incorporate appropriate security, governance and risk controls into the architecture and delivery of data, software, infrastructure and AI systems.

In short

Governance and security decide who can see which data, how it is protected and how AI behaves with it. Nexstella designs those controls into the system, sized to data sensitivity, business impact and your obligations. We support alignment with recognized frameworks; alignment does not constitute certification.

01 When it matters

When should security and governance shape the design?

When a system handles sensitive data, connects to other systems or lets an AI application act on information, the controls belong in the architecture, not beside it.

Security, governance and AI controls are designed together, because AI applications depend on access controls, auditability, data retention and risk management.

A business plans to let an AI assistant work with internal data. Before it goes live, it needs to know who may see what, how access is enforced and how the information is protected.

We would classify the data, set access rules on least-privilege principles, assess the AI use case for risk, define where a person must approve an action, and test for unauthorized disclosure and prompt injection.

02 Services

What does this include?

  • Data classification and handling policies
  • Data ownership and stewardship design
  • Data quality controls and lineage
  • Role-based and attribute-based access control
  • Identity and secrets management
  • Encryption and key management
  • Privacy-aware architecture and data minimization
  • Retention and deletion workflows
  • Audit logging and traceability
  • Threat modeling and security reviews
  • Dependency and vulnerability management
  • AI risk assessment and evaluation
  • Prompt-injection and unauthorized-tool-use defenses
  • Human oversight and exception management
  • Security and governance evidence documentation

03 Applications

Where does this usually apply?

  • Designing authentication and security into a new digital product
  • Putting AI evaluation and access controls around an AI capability on its way to production
  • Establishing a governed data environment with ownership, quality expectations, lineage and access approval workflows
  • Classifying AI use cases by risk and keeping an approved model inventory

04 Technology

How do we choose the technology?

The controls implemented for each engagement reflect data sensitivity, business impact, system exposure, contractual requirements, and applicable laws and standards.

05 Deliverables

What do you get?

  • Control requirements and security design as part of the architecture
  • Data governance definitions of ownership, business definitions, quality expectations, lineage and retention rules
  • Security and governance evidence documentation
  • Test results, remediation records and acceptance evidence
  • Technical documentation and handover support procedures

Where relevant, design and implementation can be aligned with recognized frameworks such as ISO/IEC 27001 and the NIST AI Risk Management Framework. Alignment and implementation support do not, by themselves, constitute certification, independent assurance or regulatory approval.

06 Needs

Which needs does this serve?

07 Questions

What do people usually ask?

Data ownership and stewardship, authoritative business definitions, data quality expectations, lineage and provenance, sensitivity classifications, access request and approval workflows, retention and deletion rules, data-sharing policies and evidence of control execution.

They may include use-case risk classification, approved model inventories, privacy and intellectual property reviews, dataset provenance, human oversight, model evaluation, performance monitoring, incident reporting and appropriate transparency.
